Land and Buildings' team members have worked together for many years. Prior to joining the firm, several members worked at Citigroup on the Global Real Estate Equity Research team. We have a team based culture where each member has clear responsibilities. The investment team communicates constantly and meets daily to discuss current events and portfolio composition.
Founder & CIO
Jonathan Litt has over 22 years of experience as a global real estate strategist and an investor in both public real estate securities and direct property. Mr. Litt founded Land and Buildings in the summer of 2008 to take advantage of the opportunities uncovered by the global property bubble. Previously, Mr. Litt was Managing Director and Senior Property Analyst at Citigroup where he was responsible for Global Property Investment Strategy, coordinating a 44 person team of research analysts located across 16 countries.
Mr. Litt was recognized as a leading analyst since 1995, achieving prestigious Institutional Investor Magazine #1 ranking for 8 years and top five ranking throughout the period. Mr. Litt also achieved top ranking from Greenwich Associates since 1995. During his career as a sell-side analyst, he was involved with many mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings and other forms of financing. During this time, he developed close relationships with both public and private real estate professionals.
Before moving to the sell-side in 1994, Mr. Litt worked on the buy-side investing in public real estate securities and buying real property during his tenure at European Investors and BrookHill Properties, where his career began in 1988.
Mr. Litt graduated from Columbia University in 1987 with a BA in Economics and NYU's Stern School of Business in 1990 with an MBA in Finance. Mr. Litt can often be seen on CNBC or quoted in the Wall Street Journal and other industry publications. He is also the president of a a not-for-profit, the Children with Dyslexia Scholarship Fund, which provides children with scholarships to secondary schools that specialize in dyslexia.
Co-Founder & PM
Craig Melcher, Co-Founder and Portfolio Manager, works closely with Mr. Litt managing the portfolio and is responsible for idea generation and stock selection.
Prior to Land and Buildings, Mr. Melcher was Vice President at Citigroup where he covered apartment and specialty REITs. He assisted in overall strategy for global real estate on the consistently top ranked real estate research team. Mr. Melcher helped develop and oversee the management of the various model portfolios managed by the team, including the long-only US REIT portfolio and long/short hedge fund.
Mr. Melcher was a Stern Scholar and graduated with honors from NYU’s Stern School of Business with an MBA. He graduated cum laude with a BS degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in finance and information systems. Mr. Melcher is also a CFA charter holder. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Securities Analysts.
Corey Lorinsky, Senior Analyst, is a member of the Land and Buildings Investment Committee and is responsible for investment idea generation, monitoring of current investments and supporting the global research efforts at the firm. He is responsible for building, maintaining and updating earnings, net asset value and pricing models as well other macroeconomic, industry and company-specific analysis.
Mr. Lorinsky joined Land and Buildings in 2011 from Elliott Associates, a $17 billion multi-strategy hedge fund based in Manhattan, where he was a Research Analyst from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that role, he conducted research on housing and the financial crisis at the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Mr. Lorinsky graduated magna cum laude from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics and Concentrations in Finance, Entrepreneurship and Real Estate. He has passed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams.
Andrew Henick is an analyst and is responsible for supporting the firm’s research efforts. Prior to joining Land and Buildings in February 2017, he was an analyst in J.P. Morgan’s Global Real Assets division where he worked on U.S. real estate transactions and asset management. He has also worked as a summer analyst at Centre Partners and SAC Capital.
Mr. Henick graduated cum laude from Duke University in 2014 with a BA in psychology, a minor in economics and a certificate in markets & management studies. He is currently a Level III candidate in the CFA curriculum.
Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer
Stephen Katchur is the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for fund and management company operations, accounting, and compliance.
Before joining the firm in March 2014, Mr. Katchur was previously Chief Financial Officer for North Oak Capital Advisors, an investment fund seeded by Julian Robertson. At North Oak, he was responsible for all non-investment functions of the fund including accounting, operations, compliance, marketing, and management company finances. Prior to joining North Oak, Mr. Katchur was Chief Financial Officer for Wolfacre Global Management, a fund also seeded by Julian Robertson. Previously, Mr. Katchur held hedge fund accounting roles at International Fund Services and Citco Fund Services. He began his career as a fund accountant at Bank of New York.
Mr. Katchur earned an MBA from the New York University, Stern School of Business, specializing in Financial Instruments and Markets. He earned a B.S. in Finance from the University of Central Florida.
Director of Investor Relations
Jonathan Dunn is the Director of Investor Relations and is responsible for all investor outreach along with supporting the firm’s third party marketing effort.
Before joining Land and Buildings in March 2016, Mr. Dunn served as a Vice President at Optima Fund Management, a Manhattan based fund-of-funds, from 2014 to 2016. Working in the marketing department, he was responsible for relationship management and asset raising with the firm’s strategic partner, BNY Mellon Wealth Management. Prior to joining Optima, Mr. Dunn served as Director of Investor Relations at QFS Asset Management, a systematic fundamental global macro manager located in Greenwich, from 2011 until the firm’s closing in 2014. In this role, he worked closely in a product specialist capacity with the marketing, operations, fund accounting, trading, legal, and research teams. Prior to joining QFS, Mr. Dunn was an Assistant Vice President and Associate Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley (and legacy firms) from 2004 to 2011, doing investment research and client communication in the unified managed account program for institutional and high net worth investors.
Mr. Dunn earned an MBA from the University of Connecticut, graduating with honors, with concentrations in finance, marketing, and international business and a BS in marketing and management from Villanova University.
Chris Kosiewska is the Operations Analyst and is responsible for all fund and managed account operations as well as various administrative functions.
Prior to joining the team in January 2016, Mr. Kosiewska was part of a rotational program in operations at Rabobank. He has experience in trade finance services and middle-office operations. Additionally, he supported multiple trading desks at Rabobank. Prior to Rabobank, he worked at L.S. Global Advisory conducting shareholder research for foreign companies. He also participated in a summer analyst program in prime brokerage at Morgan Stanley and completed an internship at UBS Wealth Management.
Mr. Kosiewska graduated from St. John’s University with a B.S. in Finance.
